Our Vacation...in May

A little behind on posting this information, but better late than never right?  In the middle of May my mother came and watched Nolan for 9 days so Daniel and I could go on a 7 day cruise out of Puerto Rico.  We had a lot of fun (except for the beginning of my pregnancy sickness while we were gone).  We both agree 7 days is too long to be gone.  And while we will probably take another cruise it will probably be shorter.  Our Carnival cruise left from Puerto Rico on a Sunday and visited another island each day that week:  St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and St. Martin.  Busy, busy, busy.  We met two AWESOME couples at our dinner table that we had lots of fun with during the week...we have even "joked" about a Mediterranean cruise for all of us in the future.
In Puerto Rico waiting to board the cruise ship we walked around Old San Juan and toured the two forts there.  These forts make forts in the U.S. look like small brick buildings.  They are hardcore and beautiful.
For breakfast we tried and local place that has been around a long time (can't remember how long now haha, great description huh?)

Fresh squeezed OJ, smoothie, Puerto Rican pastry with ham and cheese, and an omelette...yum!

Sending Nolan a postcard...

Walking the streets in Old San Juan.

The first one was Fort San Felipe del Morro and had 6 different levels.
Walking up the hill to the fort.

Daniel playing chess ;-)

Bathroom with a balcony and view...

Second one was Fort San Cristobal, not quite as big but still beautiful.
And covered in iguanas in one section...

The biggest one we saw...he was not afraid of us like all the other ones.  Just stared us down.

View of our ship from Fort San Cristobal.

On Monday we went to St. Thomas.  We rented a car and drove around the island.

Driving on the opposite side of the road, made more interesting by the fact the driver's seat and passenger's seat were still on the same side of the car as ours in the states.  Daniel did it like a pro!

Driving around the island.

Daniel wanted to drive down random side roads...this is one of the the dead end roads with some skinny cows.

Looking at the beach area we were about to go down to.

This area was open to the public but you had to pay for parking, supposedly the best beach on the island.  (Forgot the name, will add it later after I ask Daniel)  No snorkeling at this spot.

We also checked out Sapphire Beach to go snorkeling.  It was my first time.  What a fun thing to do.  We didn't take any pictures though.  We brought my brother's underwater camera but couldn't get it to work with our SD card...sadness.
To make these posts not so long I will do it in stages...next up is Dominica (probably our favorite place) and Barbados (least favorite)

It's good to know that you can successfully leave the baby boy for a whole week! How'd he do?

Jealous!!! Your trip looked so fun! (Though from your stories I know that you didn't enjoy the food as much as you should have!) But the forts looked really interesting!
